"China - Central & Eastern Europe Music Drama Exchange and Cooperation Seminar" was held in Fuzhou city on 26th October 2018, by the ministry of culture and tourism and the bureau of international cooperation and exchanges. The meeting aimed to implement “The Budapest Guidelines of Cooperation between China and Central & Eastern Europe Budapest” and “The Cooperation Declaration of China and Central & Eastern Europe in Hangzhou City”. This is a great chance for deepening the mutual understandings and exchanges in the field of opera between China and Europe. There were more than 20 representatives from a dozen countries and regions attended the meeting and made speeches. The meeting was hosted by Prof. Man Xinyin from Xiamen University. The dean of art school of Wuhan University, Ms. Liu Danli was invited as a key speaker.
Ms. Liu first introduced the basic information of art school of Wuhan University, especially the innovative educational model of art based on the cultural background and modern discipline system of Wuhan University. By combining the practice and teaching, general and specialized education, this model was structured on “creating, directing, and performing”. Moreover, she highlighted our school’s advantage and potential on obtaining superior resources and collaborating with overseas institutions and experts, which were crucial factors for the development of opera. Finally, she proposed the plan for the next a few years, namely based on the successful practice of national opera “Love Makes Home”, we are trying to make art school one of the most well-known art institution of the country.
The meeting was truly successful by the efforts of the representatives. A series of cooperation were made on the meeting, such as the summer/winder camp of music drama collectively held by 17 countries and the long-term plan of a music drama league involving 17 countries. More specifically, the collaboration between our school and Polish artist Michal Znaniecki was officially launched, which definitely meant a new stage of the development of our music drama in terms of both theory and practice.
